The second installment of the Fresno Poets’ Association 2006-07 reading series is scheduled for this Thursday, Nov. 2, with poet Jesse Lee Kercheval.
Kercheval is the author of seven books and two chapbooks. Her newest story collection, Alice in Dairyland, won the prestigious 2006 Prairie Schooner Book Prize. She is currently the Sally Mead Hands Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she directs the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing.
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. inside the Bonner Auditorium at the Fresno Art Museum. There will be a book-signing and reception after the reading. Cost: $5 general, $4 for students. Visit FresnoPoets.org for details.
You can read a feature article about Kercheval, as interviewed by MFA student Logan Perkes, this week on Fresno Famous. Click here to read what Kercheval says about being a poet who writes about her children, how women fare in the national poetry scene, and how she makes the time to be creative.
