EVENT: Susan Stewart readings

Acclaimed poet Susan Stewart, author of four collections of poetry, will appear for two events next week as part of the Branching Out: Poetry for the 21st Century series.

Stewart will read from her work Sunday, May 7, at 5 p.m. She will then lecture on Russian poet Anna Akhmatova on Monday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m. Both events will be held at the Woodward Park Library, 944 E. Perrin Ave.

MFAer Sallie Perez Saiz, a creative nonfiction student, interviewed Stewart recently for Fresno Famous. Saiz asked Stewart about about finding her personal perspective, connecting multiple art forms to write her poetry, and the power of poetry to tie the past with the future.

Stewart is a two-time National Endowment for the Arts fellow and has been a Guggenheim and MacArther fellow as well, among many other honors. She teaches at Princeton University.
